Dear friends and kind-hearted individuals,

I’m reaching out to share my story and ask for your support during a challenging time in my life after being drugged and sexually assaulted. Recently, I experienced this traumatic event, which has profoundly impacted my health and well-being. I am a victim of serious crimes that left me not only physically harmed but also emotionally and psychologically traumatized. Following this incident, I faced a series of struggles, including neglect and malpractice from healthcare providers, an undiagnosed broken back, and violations of my tenant rights, which led to displacement and homelessness.

My two brief stays at Bebee Hospital were fraught with difficulties. I was discharged before fully recovering from the medications, leading to severe complications, including a fall down a flight of stairs that fractured my back in five places—an injury that went undiagnosed. This resulted in further complications after discharge, including dehydration and a GI bleed, which left me bedridden and unable to eat or drink for five days. The hospital lacked essential resources, such as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, making me vulnerable during an already distressing time. They failed to provide caring support and advocacy while I was impaired and alone.

To make matters worse, while I was bedridden at a friends house, my landlord entered my living space without permission, rummaged through my belongings, and threatened me with eviction. This invasion of privacy added to the trauma I was already experiencing and made my path to healing much more difficult.

In response to these events, I have decided to take a stand by pressing charges against those responsible: my assailant, my landlord, and the hospital for their crimes. I have learned that others in my community have suffered similar fates, and this knowledge has motivated me to want to make a difference to prevent such tragedies from happening again. However, pursuing justice comes with financial implications. Legal fees are accumulating, and I am also experiencing a loss of wages as I navigate these challenges and take the necessary time off to focus on my mental and physical recovery.
