Assist Will Fowlkes' Family in Hard Times

I’m a widowed father and proud parent and grandparent of three children still at home. Our family’s strength lies in our community involvement. My children serve frequently at church, compete in school and sports, and are avid Scouts-BSA members. I’ve mentored youth through coaching and leading scouts for over three decades, was a certified DFACS foster parent, and lead organizations and committees in political activism and strategy. My life revolves around my children and others’ children, evident in my Facebook posts.

I’ve enjoyed a rewarding career in technology and management, working as a Project/Program/Portfolio Manager, Software Development Manager, and Director of Information Technology.

However, life has become challenging. I was let go from my technology manager position last fall and haven’t found new employment. We’ve depleted our savings and are behind on bills and expenses for 2025. My children don’t know the whole financial situation, but they’ve noticed my increased stress. After my wife’s passing, I kept life normal for them by keeping them active. Now, I risk losing everything next week, including their activities. I’ve kept this information private but can’t anymore. Next week will be very difficult for my family.

Asking for help is new to me, but I’m at a loss. I’ve contacted community services, but my past-due expenses exceed their capacity. A friend set up a GoFundMe page for our family when my wife passed away, so I’m explaining my situation and trying this as a last resort. My primary needs are housing, utilities, and insurance, with kids’ activities as a secondary concern.
