My name is Karlene Way, and I am the wife of Michael Way and the mother of Madison and Michelle Way. With deep sadness, I share that my husband, Mike, passed away on Saturday night, September 6, 2025.

Although Mike had been facing health challenges, his passing was sudden and unexpected. He had just recently retired after dedicating 47 years of his life to working at Vons. He was looking forward to enjoying retirement with our family and pursuing the things he loved most.

Mike was a lifelong Dodgers fan and an all-around supporter of Los Angeles sports. He was also a proud UCLA alumnus, and he was happy to pass on that torch to his daughter Madison, who he got to see graduate last month. He was also very proud of his eldest daughter Michelle, who is finishing up dental hygiene school in February.

As the main financial provider for our family, Mike’s passing has left us not only with the heartbreak of losing him, but also with the challenge of covering funeral costs and maintaining stability for the future. Any contributions will help us manage these expenses and allow us to focus on honoring Mike’s memory and supporting our daughters through this difficult time.

We are deeply grateful for the love, generosity, and encouragement from our friends, family, and community. We are still in the process of planning a memorial service, but we will update friends and family when the time comes.
