HELP SUPPORT THE VAN PELT FAMILY DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME

We are reaching out to elevate awareness of this rare but rapidly increasing type of cancer and help our dad through the support of family, friends, and our community. We are asking for help so that he can spend the last few months of his life on earth with his family, but also to cover any funeral costs when the time comes as well as household expenses till mom can go back to work.

Our world was turned upside down when our dad, David, was diagnosed on March 20, 2025, with Stage 4 Metastatic small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. This is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer that spreads to other parts of the body. It has already spread from his lungs to his hips, arm, lymph nodes, and spine and will just keep spreading. This is an uncommon and complex cancer, with few clinical trials, research, or curative treatments.

David's Journey So Far

Despite the prognosis, Dad is showing incredible courage and strength. He is currently undergoing hospice care. Unfortunately, he is not strong enough to undergo chemotherapy or radiation, even though they think it would help with the pain. The family is pulling together around-the-clock care, but even with insurance coverage, they are facing daunting expenses with Mom not being able to work and only relying on one sole income.

If you know David, you know that he is a great father, took the time of day to take on kids that weren't his, and raised them as his own. He always helped people, whether it was working on computers or working on people's vehicles, and never asked for anything in return. He loved to go fishing at the beach and try to outfish everyone. He loved all of his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He wished that he had more time on earth to watch them grow, but the Lord is calling him home soon.
