Alana and Brendan are two 4H and FFA members in Manatee County. Alana (14) and Brendan (18) had just purchased a steer and heifer and went to their first prospect show. Both received first in class and had a fantastic break-out show with their fair projects. Shortly after they loaded up and were headed home, they experienced a complete nightmare. The calves managed to get wrapped up in their leads and with each other and could not be freed from their bound positions and ultimately passed in this freak accident. The family stopped to check on the animals shortly before this happened and are still baffled at how the cows managed to get into the positions they were in. Despite every effort to save them, they did not make it.

The calves were Alana’s 2026 fair projects and she had been working with them with her brother to show them and ultimately take them to the county fair.

Alana and Brendan both left the show happy and excited for this new show year, and arrived home extremely confused, hurt, and lost without their show animals.

This Go FundMe is set up in hopes for Alana to find and purchase another steer by August so she can check in and show for the 2026 fair. Any assistance in this loss will help them move forward.
