Dear friends and family,
It is with deep sorrow that I share the news of the passing of Carol Lumpkin, who would have been 47 on August 2nd. She was an amazing mother, loving wife, devoted daughter, caring sibling, and faithful friend. Carol fought a long and courageous battle with lung disease and heart failure -including three hospitalizations just this year. Facing this challenge, she remained the enduring strength of her family. Her sudden death has left a void that cannot be measured.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jack, and their two young children - William and Emily, her mother, Christine, father, Dave, and brothers, Christoper, DJ, and Sam. William, 13, is a brave young man. William battled leukemia and, shortly before he finished cancer treatment, was left paralyzed from the waist down from a rare infection. Emily, age 8, grew up by her brother’s side in hospital rooms, carrying the weight of worry through her childhood.
For the last five years, this family has endured unimaginable hardship. William’s cancer fight and life-altering disability, Emily’s emotional struggle, and Carol’s tenacity against failing health. Tragically, Carol’s income and health insurance was of vital importance to the Lumpkin family. Now, Carol is gone, leaving Jack overwhelmed by funeral expenses and by how to cover basic essentials like housing, food, and medical needs.
My goal for this fundraiser is to help cover the cost of the funeral service and burial arrangements, as well as day-to day living expenses until the family regains some stability.
Every dollar will directly ease their financial hardship and allow the family to grieve without the burden of overwhelming debt.
How much we need:
Funeral and burial: approximately $8,000
Immediate living expenses (3-6 months): $7,000
Total goal: $15,000
Why your support matters:
By giving whatever you can—$5, $50, or $500—you help this family honor Carol’s memory and care for William and Emily during this crisis. Your kindness will allow them to focus on healing, not on financial difficulties.
Please donate – every contribution helps lighten the family’s financial burden.
Share the link – spreading the word amplifies the positive impact.
Please send a message – heartfelt notes and memories of Carol would mean the world to the Lumpkin family.
Carol was the rock of her family—loving, resilient, and selfless. She taught her children courage and compassion through every hospital stay, every challenge. Honoring her means coming together to support the family she loved so fiercely.
Thank you for opening your heart at this time of deep sorrow. Your generosity ensures Carol will have the farewell she deserves and William and Emily can face the future with love and support. I will post more information about the funeral service when I get more details.
