Help the Hernandez Family to Become an Eternal Family

Hi! Our names our Elder Currit, Elder Tovar, and Elder Abbott and we're missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints here in Guatemala. We have some friends named Douglas, Sandra and Ximena Hernandez that we have been helping on their path to grow closer to their Heavenly Father for over a year. They have a really strong desire to be baptized in this church, and have had many spiritual experiences and confirmations that have led them to take this decision. In order to to this, they want to get married so that they can be prepared to take the steps to become an eternal family, which means that the father has to get divorced from his ex-wife first. They have been separated for about 10 years but have never had the money or time to get officially divorced. The issue is that due to a very serious motorcycle accident a few months ago, he and his current partner haven't been able to work because of various injuries to their legs. This has meant that they will need help with the financial aspect of the divorce.

We are working with a lawyer here in Guatemala who is willing to do the marriage for free, as well as help with her part of the divorce free of charge, but there are several costs of the divorce that need to be payed no matter what, and our mission president has authorized asking for financial help from family and friends. The costs add up to about 5000 quetzals, or about 700 dollars. We need your help to be able to provide them with this financial aid so that they can take this crucial step and grow closer to our Heavenly Father. They are committed to living this gospel, and want to make covenants with God in order to do so. Thank you all so much for your support and love! ¡Hola! Nosotros nos llamamos Elder Currit, Elder Tovar y Elder Abbott y somos misioneros de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días aquí en Guatemala. Tenemos unos amigos que se llaman Douglas, Sandra y Ximena Hernández a quienes hemos estado ayudando en su camino para acercarse a su Padre Celestial durante mas que un año. Tienen un deseo muy fuerte de ser bautizados en esta iglesia y han tenido muchas experiencias y confirmaciones espirituales que los han llevado a tomar esta decisión. Para lograr esto, quieren casarse para preperarse a dar los pasos necesarios para convertirse en una familia eterna, lo que significa que el padre debe divorciarse primero de su ex esposa. Él y su esposa han estado seperados por mucho tiempo ya, solo que nunca han tenido el dinero ni el tiempo para divorciarse. Lo complicado es que hace unos meses, él y su pareja actual tuvieron un accidente muy grave en moto en la cual a los dós padres se les quebraron los femures. Eso significa que no han podido trabajar por unos meses, entonces necesitan apoyo financiero con el divorcio.

Estamos trabajando con una abogada aquí en Guatemala que está dispuesta a realizar el matrimonio gratis, y tambien a ayudarlos con su parte del divorcio sin ningún costo, pero hay varios costos del divorcio que deben pagarse sí o sí, y nuesto presidente de misión ha autorizado que podamos pedir ayuda financiera de nuestros amigos y familiares. Estos costos suman unos 5.000 quetzales, o unos 700 dólares. Necesitamos su ayuda para poder brindarles esta ayuda financiera para que puedan dar este paso crucial y acercarse a nuestro Padre Celestial.
