My name is Taryn Starkey. I am the daughter of Terry Hewitt. Many know that my dad has been in poor health for some time now, on disability since I was in high school. Over time, his condition has progressed into heart and kidney failure. A couple of months ago, with the guidance of his doctor, he went on hospice. It's been a rollercoaster for our family helping him manage end-of-life challenges, even more so with a stubborn man like my dad.
We thought he was doing well after a recent hospital visit, but unfortunately, on Sunday when I returned from being out of town, I was informed that he had a rapid decline. His nurses believe it will be a couple of days now, and so I'm hustling to try and be as prepared as I can. My Meme (his mother, Pauline) has also seen a recent decline, and it seems they may be in a race to get home. Very fitting if you know them.
Anyways, this has been pretty hard to take on by myself, and the state of the economy has put my own business in a slump to where I can't afford to pay for his end-of-life expenses. Aside from his collection of "stuff," he isn't very liquid. I guess I'm saying it's my turn now to ask for help. Anything received will first go to his end-of-life expenses, next will be expenses related to his house until we can come up with a plan, potential attorney costs, lost wages for my family if possible, and if there is some sort of miracle that everything is taken care of, anything remaining will be split three ways and put into savings accounts for Terry's three grandchildren, Bradie, Foster, and Lena.
Any little bit will help Terry be laid to rest and greatly help me stay afloat. Thanks so much.
