Assist Taryn in Her Journey of Support

Hi there, my name is Taryn Laughlin and I recently took a step back from my job in the medical field and have spent much of my time helping take care of my sweet grandmother; who has endured the treatment for multiple myeloma for several years now. We are so proud of her and what she’s accomplished and overcome! I feel blessed to live near her and am able to assist her in any way that I can; whether that’s MD Anderson appointments or even finding interesting and meaningful ways to spend our days together where we just have fun.

Recently however, it’s come to my attention that my body is going thru its own sort of rebellion.
As most of you know, my father passed away about a year ago in an accident where he drowned alongside his jet ski and his fiance, who thankfully did survive. This has without a doubt been one of the most challenging years of my life, and for the family and friends who loved him dearly.

Recently, I felt stretched thin and overwhelmed both physically and emotionally, which eventually led to my first (and hopefully only) grand mal seizure…in the middle of CVS. Yikes is right. Thank goodness I wasn’t driving, as my grandmother and I were in the middle of running errands.

As someone who has studied and worked in neurology throughout my entire twenties, I’m familiar with the multiple visits, sleep studies, assessments, etc that must be performed in order to find a cause if you’re lucky. And if nothing else, rule out possible triggers, conditions, and habits that could lead to another random episode in the future. Obviously, I want to cover all of my bases and feel as prepared as I can be moving forward.

Right now, I’m hoping my neurologists’ conclusion is that of an isolated incident caused by an accumulation of many forms of distress. If that’s the case, I should be able to take certain precautions to avoid another episode. However, to obtain that peace of mind and sense of control and freedom, there are clinical exams I still will need to undergo! :(

Sometimes, we really do need each other. I’m not usually one to ask for help, but here it is folks! I could really use it.
Hopefully good results are to come and maybe even a spontaneous roadtrip with Mamaw to Chick-fil-A in the near future :D

Until then, if you’re able to, I’d deeply appreciate any contribution that will help keep me afloat financially while allowing my doctors to do their due diligence. As I‘ve mentioned, I worked in neurology for years and these studies can be extensive. Currently I’m still searching for answers and trying not to get discouraged. I truly appreciate any and all moral support if anything. The unknown right now feels pretty frightening, but I look forward to the day I’m able to make more memories with those I care about.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Stay healthy <3
