Let's Help OO Alumnus Shayne Whitaker in Rebuilding His Life

Shayne "Rex" Whitaker is a proud member of Oxford Orphanage Class of 1989. Unfortunately, Shayne experienced homelessness after leaving OO and he's found himself in the same predicament now at no fault of his own. Can we all work together and help him get back on his feet?? Read his own words below to learn more!

"I would like to sincerely ask you for your prayers, good thoughts, and well wishes right now. As you can probably tell by several posts I’ve made over the past couple of months, I have been dealing with some challenging circumstances in my life. As I mentioned earlier, the struggles in my life have been considerable in recent months and have only deepened. Before me is a daunting and uncertain path. I haven’t spoken in detail about these obstacles, or how they came to be. With respect, I don’t intend to. While you may be curious, please understand my desire to keep these cards close to the vest. Despite writing a book about my life, there have always been aspects of my life that I hold close to the chest."

"I am currently facing some of the greatest challenges of my life, which is saying a lot, considering all that I’ve already endured. That’s not to say I’m a victim. I am just facing a number of things in my life right now. Some I’ve faced before, but are no less easy. Others are new and shocking. I’m not asking for anyone’s pity. I haven’t said anything about this, or I’ve evaded telling anyone who asked, but homelessness has crept back into my life over the past month and a half or so. Despite that, I’ve remained glass half full and thankful for certain things. My cats have been safe. Unfortunately, their situation is also precarious now and I need to find a temporary sanctuary for them, or even one or two of them in different places if necessary. I definitely want them back with me once I survive the current storm in my life. It’s not easy to reach out and ask for help like this, but life has a way of cornering us and making us realize the limits of our own strength. Please help by sharing and spreading the word about my books. Recommend the books to people. Please tell someone about the books. Please share my author social media pages. Book sales are my only source of income currently. Please don’t feel sorry for me. You can help by telling others about my books and recommending them. You can help by praying for me. Despite the arduous days ahead, I still feel I will persevere. It won’t be easy."
