Hello everyone, my name is Shane and I've never in my life had to go through the stress and uncertainty I've been dealing with for the last month.
I was injured at my job on March 27th, 2025, and have been off work since. The insurance company that is handling my workman's comp claim has not responded to many emails or voicemails about my claim since my initial doctor visit, in which they only took X-rays of my back, which don't show any fractures or broken bones, but I'm in a lot of pain every day.
I requested to see another doctor in hopes of getting an MRI, which would likely show that there is something wrong with my back, and that's the reason I believe they are ignoring me. I'm in limbo with getting the correct care I need, paying my rent, and numerous other bills. I've tried getting short-term disability, but they won't approve it if it's work-related.
I really believed everything would be taken care of as I've been with my employer for 8 years and haven't missed a day of work in over 4.5 years up until this back injury. I'm currently awaiting FMLA approval to protect my job up until July.
I've never felt the need to reach out for help like this and wouldn't care if I was single, but I have a wife I have to take care of. My wife has seizures and can't drive, and getting around is hard for me due to my injury. We're living off of credit cards, which have been a Godsend for us.
We've been working on our credit so we could eventually purchase some land and a small home or RV to put on the land. We want to eventually start an animal sanctuary, which is something we both dream of doing as we have enormous hearts for animals. It's upsetting that this has occurred and have to damage our credit just to survive a few more weeks. I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders right now.
I'm not sure what information I could post showing proof of my injury and lack of action by the workman's comp insurance company, but will look into it. I pray that no one has to go through this type of mental and physical stress over a work-related injury.
I've never had an injury in the 8 years of employment with this company or any trips to first aid. I lift parts up to 75 lbs repetitively for 8 hours a day, and after all these years, it finally got me.
You have no idea how thankful and appreciative I am that any of you have taken the time to read my story. These funds will be used to pay rent and other necessary bills while awaiting the outcome of my situation. If you can't financially help me, prayers would be just as helpful as I'm a believer that God takes care of His children. Thank you all for your time and support! It really means the world to me and my wife.
