Assist Rita in Finding a Safe Home

Hello, my name is Rita and I’m here asking for help to move somewhere safer. I currently rent from Invitation Homes and the house I’m in is literally falling apart. Putting in work order after work order is getting old because they only send people out to take pictures, then second, third, and fourth opinion you to death, which still could take months to get fixed. My Georgia Power bill is outrageous because of things being wired incorrectly. The vendors that come out each have said something different and neither was the actual problem. Which still leaves me holding the bag. Even though I was told I would receive compensation. Invitation Homes has not made good on it.

I am disabled and homebound with several medical issues. Since living here, I’ve incurred many extra costs because of their failure to fix things correctly or in a timely manner. The first year I lived here, I had more than 4 refrigerators. The first day I moved in, I had no air. I moved in during the pandemic from being in a hotel for months. I have more medical issues than I had then and can barely afford meds because of these incurred fees. I haven’t been able to save to move either.

But now the house is literally falling apart, sinking in, and shifting, and is becoming dangerous. I need help securing a different property for my safety as well as my family. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
