I am asking for donations to help an Afghan refugee family in Indianapolis who are in dire need- about to be homeless. Aiming for enough money to pay the rent for a while and maybe buy a cheap vehicle. The father worked for the US during the occupation and had to leave or be killed by the Taliban. Husband, wife and 3 young children fled home and country. They spent a year in a refugee camp and eventually got US visas. Exodus Refugee Indianapolis assisted them first few months. Father got a job on night shift in a frozen food warehouse. They got a used car and he drove UBER on day off. They had a baby 1 year ago- 6 mouths now dependent on him. He lost his job a few months back and his imperfect English has hampered his job search. Drove UBER till someone hit and totaled his car 3 weeks ago. He's OK, but can't get to a job or drive UBER without vehicle. They await insurance payout. Meanwhile, have blown through resources and face homelessness. Please help, even a little, if you can. Four of the 5 kids in the photo are their kids at a recent birthday party I attended with them.
They live near Stop 11 and Madison Avenue, South side of Indianapolis- if anyone knows of a job the father might apply for.
Thanks!
