Let's Assist Pamela Through This Challenging Time

Hey Seahawks ... this is Stacy ... hope you all had a great holiday season and a fantastic new year.

Sadly our fellow classmate, Pamela Lawson-Meehan (class of 80), didn't get to enjoy the festivities. She is in need of some OVHS spirit and assistance. I think if we all band together we can help Pam make it over a small hurdle with our collaborative efforts!

Pam find herself in a rather dire situation. Michael, her husband of 23 years has been in and out of hospitals and medical facilities for almost 3 years. They have gone through their savings and unfortunately had to do a quick sale on their home last June to avoid losing what equity they had.

Michael has been on a ventilator for over 5 weeks and just got a tracheotomy over the weekend. Pam has been told that he is not leaving the extended care hospital anytime soon so his plans of returning to work are not in the foreseeable future. He’s doing well mentally and physically but his lungs need to heal more.

Pam has been struggling to cover bills for a couple of months. She does plasma donations twice a week to earn money, but it only covers about 1/3 of what she needs. She is looking for some part-time work, but having to "be on top of things" with her sweet husband makes working a bit challenging!

They do qualify for EBT so she has food. They don’t qualify for any disability benefits. She has checked. Living in an RV, she does have a roof over her head, so no need for housing. She has posted items she is selling to help make ends meet ... but as we all know, the economy is slow and that may take some time.

So, I'm proposing that we all pitch in, if we can, and try to raise about $3,000 to help Pam over the next two months, while she prepares her items for sale! She's been through the wringer and worrying about money is the last thing she should be doing! Let's help her stay by Michael's side during this trying time.
