Vision loss and deteriorating health forced Nancy into what was formerly called 'The Living Center' in the Spring of 2023.

Due to this circumstance she has lost access to her social benefits so struggles to pay her phone bill, and buy basic necessities such as decent socks, herbal supplements, and nutritious food. If you can spare even a little bit, it will help her live more comfortably.

Nancy Ryan, 92, lived off-grid on a windy cusp of Tres Orejas in northern N.M. since '94 with her late husband Jim, cat Diamond Eyes, fruit trees, and gardens. Her beloved Jim joined her late dog Annie in 2022.

Nancy has been a lifelong poet and activist whose Publications include Antaeus, The Paris Review, and Open Places. Nancy is co-founder of Humboldt State Women's radio collective, and hosts Women's Speak, a radio program for nonprofit, Cultural Energy. Vision loss inspired the poetry collection, The Scattering Depth (2010) with artist Theresa Gray.
