Assist My Leg with a LegAssist
Donation protected
Short version: I need about $1200 to pay my part of a new LegAssist compression garment. Even if you cannot contribute, I would vastly appreciate a like and a share.
Long version: This is a picture of a LegAssist compression garment. I wear one on my lower left leg to help manage my severe lymphedema. The lymphedema isn't going to get any better, but the LegAssist keeps it from getting worse. I wear it every day.
Because I wear it every day, it wears out--mostly, the velcro stops sticking. For that reason, my insurance company will pay for a new one every year. And when I say "pay for," I mean, "pay for part of it after I've satisfied the deductible." I need to pay another $800 and change to satisfy the deductible, and then insurance covers 80%.
That leaves me owing $1100 and change; I've rounded up to $1200 because I don't know what kind of tax, shipping, etc I'll have to pay. In order to pay "only" this amount, I need to get this ordered in December. According to the company I order from, I'd need to place the order by December 14 in order to ensure it's a 2020 expense. If it rolls over to 2021, then of course I'd have to pay for the whole thing.
I've been unemployed since COVID hit, so money is very scarce. I'm hoping my friends (and friends of friends, and total strangers; I'm not proud) will be able to chip in and help. Even if you can't chip in, giving this campaign a "like" and a "share" will help get the word out. I don't have a lot of social media reach.
If I should raise more than the requested amount, I will use the extra to pay other medical expenses, including prescription meds, C-PAP supplies, and outstanding debt from my hospitalization last year.
Thank you for reading my story. Please contact me if you have any questions.
