If you've had the joy of meeting my dad you know he can be described in one word: STUBBORN. And so, at the young age of 72 he is still working hard everyday. He's been a truck driver for decades and on Wednesday, March 26 my mom got the worst text while 300 miles away: "I fell." We knew it wasn't a small fall but imagine our shock to hear that he had managed to break both arms, his nose and injured both his knees. Mom and I drove six hours away to Northern California, leaving our jobs for the past 3 days and counting as he recovers in the ICU. Mom will be his primary caregiver for the next two months. He is unable to use both hands at all and is in severe pain. He just beat cancer a few months ago and this is definitely a new rainy day we were not expecting.
so far the break down of costs:
- Hotel room for 2 nights: $239
- Clothes/supplies (the doctor had originally planned to discharge him that Wednesday night and so we had not brought anything with us) ~$120
- Gas $50
- Parents rent for 2 months: $3400
I think this number will undoubtedly go up but appreciate whatever any help we can get
