At the beginning of November, my brother Mitchell suffered a cardiac emergency and was rushed to the Edmonton hospital, where he spent three weeks in the cardiac ICU. The doctors told us that he suffered a thoracic aortic dissection, which is typically fatal. Against the odds, he is improving a little bit but these types of tears don't typically heal on their own and he will eventually need surgery to repair the tear. We have also been informed that when he is eventually released from the hospital, he will be on a number of expensive medications to keep his blood pressure in a safe range. In the meantime, he will be unable to work, and since he is self employed, this will cause great financial hardship in the months to come.
Anyone who knows my brother, knows that he works hard to keep a roof over his family's head and would readily help anyone who asks for his help. So, now I am asking for help for him. I am hoping to raise enough money to keep up with his rent for the next couple of months, giving him time to rehabilitate and for him and the doctors to work out a long term solution for his condition. As a bonus, it will also take some of the worry and pressure off of our family. Caring for someone who is facing a lot of unknowns is exhausting, both emotionally and financially, and we can't do it alone. We are asking for people to come along side us to help us ease the financial stress and worry that comes along with this entire situation.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope you will consider helping Mitchell and family as we travel this road to recovery.
