After taking our mom, Michaela, out of a horrible living situation and taking care of her for several months, her liver failed. She was given a couple of days to 3 months to live.

We were originally told by her primary care physician during a health check up that she would be fine as long as she stayed active and stuck with a specific diet. That was not the case. One day, she vomited and fell so we took her to the hospital. We were told due to fluid build-up from her liver not functioning and part of her intestine not working, she did not have much longer to live.

She went from being able to walk on her own and visiting the lake to being completely bed bound, unable to feed herself in a day.

Her two sons and two daughters are keeping her as comfortable as she can be while she gets daily visits from her grandchildren.

We are looking to have her cremated with half of the ashes to stay with her son's and daughters in the US and the other half to go to her parents and sister in Germany.
