Hi, I'm Melody. Coming out as a Trans Woman in Texas has not been easy, even less so in the rural area I live in. Even before the state government had started taking active steps against us, I had already lost my career, home, car, family, and more. I managed to get my identification changed before Texas but a stop to them, but it hasn't seemed to help me get work like I hoped. Luckily we've built a pretty cool community over on Twitch and their support, along with the support of partners I live with, has helped to keep things going and keep me housed and hooked up to internet to keep the community going!
However, with the recent election, Texas has already taken to submit 21 new anti-trans bills ahead of the 2025 legislative session. They had already outwardly stated they are looking into reverse the ID changes that have already been implemented back when they put a stop to accepting new ID changes. Life in Texas has already been very hard; they aim to make it impossible for me to survive here.We are currently looking to the Northeast, as most states there seem to have really good protection laws and would be close to Canada in case things get even worse federally. A move like that, especially without resources or work that can transfer, is very expensive and scary. It will put a strain not only on our ability to feed and house ourselves, but on our access to healthcare and medication needed to keep us going.
There are a lot of people that are going through rough times right now, I know, but anything you can contribute to help assist me and hopefully my partners to move somewhere that we can be safe, secure, and able to sustain ourselves would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your time and whatever else you may be able to give ♥
