Anyone who knows Libby, knows she loves to be active, she loves to be in service, meeting new people, doing electrical work in LDC, and that she loves speaking and learning Chinese.
Unfortunately, after our move to NYC in 2020 in an effort to expand our volunteer work, she was bitten by a tick on one of our hikes in upstate New York, which caused an innumerable amount of other health problems which have severely impacted her daily life and she is no longer able to do much without assistance from her daughter Leilani that works part time and takes care of her on off days. Due to nerve damage from the tick bite, she has very poor balance among other things. She needs both hands to be able to keep her balance, stand up and get around.
Last week Sunday, she lost her balance in the home and fell, fracturing her right clavicle. As a result she is now physically limited even more as she can’t use her arm for 8 weeks while the fracture heals.
We need to hire a home health aide to come on the days Im (Leilani) out working for the 8 weeks Libby is healing and insurance only covers a little bit. With all the medical expenses already from treating the tick related infections and now paying for home care out of pocket, any help would be greatly appreciated.
