Assist Kimora in Continuing At Howard University

Donation protected
My name is Kimora Hughes, I am a Junior aspiring Criminal Lawyer at Howard University.  During my time at Howard University, I have been given a multitude of experiences, opportunities, and an overall education that I would not have been able to get elsewhere. My education at Howard University means everything to me, but unfortunately due to the university's poorly ran internals, I now owe the school 15,000 dollars by July 31st, 2025 or I cannot continue my education at Howard University.

On April 13, 2025, My family promptly did as they were supposed to a pulled out a federal loan. This federal loan was to cover my remaining expenses, and should have been disbursed to me before the semester was over. I spoke to multiple Financial Aid representatives at Howard University between April 13, 2025 and the final day of the semester, who informed me that, "The financial aid office was backed up with processing loans and that my loan would be disbursed in no time and to wait."

After the semester had officially ended, I contacted the school again, about how I was advised to wait, because I was informed that the financial aid office was delayed in processing loans, and I still never received my loan.  When I contacted the school, this time they informed me that, they never received my loan information at all, and that I would need to pay the remaining balance that I owed the school, out of pocket or through a private loan.

Since then, I have spoken with Federal Student Aid themselves, the company who approves loans, and they themselves said that my loan information was in fact sent out on time, and the school should have received it. I have informed Howard University that they should have had no issue processing my loan at all and that I should have received that money weeks ago.

The financial department at Howard University is refusing to pay out my money that I should have rightfully had months ago, and is threatening to put my account into collections if I do not pay my outstanding balance, by July 31st.  Along, with the potential to be put into collections, they are also permitting students who do not pay off their balance from registering for any further semesters, meaning that if I do not pay I cannot return in August.

I am asking for any assistance with my tuition balance at Howard University, any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated, as this was not an expense I was expecting to have to cover out of pocket at all. My education, means everything to me as a first-generation college student, and finishing out my education, whether it is at Howard University or elsewhere will be extremely hard if I am sent to collections for this balance, as it will directly affect my credit.

After this balance is cleared, I will have no further financial issues in continuing my education at Howard University. Thank you for reading my story, If you can assist in any way whether it is through donation or simply sharing this, me and my family would greatly appreciate it.
