I live in Reno and took a train to Colorado. My sisters were going, but my little sister tore ligaments in her foot, and my middle sister's daughter ended up in the hospital with kidney failure. So, I went on a train with my partner and my service dog. The plan was to get my dad out of rehab by making the house safe because he had fallen twice and was bleeding on the brain. He broke his femur, so the hospital sent him to rehab. When I got there, he was complaining of chest pain and couldn't breathe, so I made them take him back to the hospital where they found blood clots in his lungs that came from his legs. They sent him to Denver by flight. We drove 4 hours, then he was doing good through the night. In the morning, we got a call that he had to go through a simple procedure through his groin to remove the clots from his lungs. Sitting in the waiting area, I heard code blue, and then 30 minutes later, the nurse said the doctor wants to talk to you. They took us in where they were still trying to resuscitate him. I've never felt so helpless. It wasn't supposed to be that kind of a trip. I was taking him home, not God! This trip was a nightmare. I missed my appointment to remove the cancer in my lung. The trip back, we had to pay again $400 because they couldn't find our reservation. It cost $3000 to cremate him, and the services are at the end of June in Grants Pass, Oregon. I haven't figured out how I'm going to pay for everything. I've never asked or done anything like this, so here goes. Please, I need help. Sincerely, Kim
