- Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Kelly Gilligan and I have had a number of medical issues (Myocardial Infarctions, Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia, Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, MRSA, etc). These medical issues all seem to be stemming from an "Unspecified" Autoimmune Disease and certain Cancer-causing genes that were found during a bone marrow biopsy. My sodium and red blood cell counts are dangerously low, and my bone marrow doesn't produce enough iron to produce enough red blood cells. It's been an extensive medical journey for me especially for the past 7 years. I have wanted to give up so many times, but my faith in God won't let me. I am certain God has held me up and has given me the strength I've needed to continue to fight! Financially, I have incurred an overwhelming amount of medical bills that keep mounting! My bone marrow iron level is still dangerously low and my Oncologist wants me to have another round of (4) iron infusions as soon as possible. My health insurance covered a portion the last time but now has denied coverage completely for these treatments. I even applied for disability and, because I haven't been unemployed for the past year, I didn't qualify! I have worked as much as possible, doing anything I can, when I can, just to keep my head above water and that apparently means I'm okay in the eyes of our government! SMH Sorry, to down our system, but, at this point, every day for me is a struggle physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially! I feel like I'm losing this battle to uncover the exact Autoimmune Disease and get it under control before it causes something else to happen. Obviously, I'm desperate! I don't know what more I can do but ask for help. The cost upfront to start the infusions is $3800, then I can go on a payment plan. If anyone can offer support so I can be able to afford these treatments, I would be so very grateful! So far with your help and pinching every penny I can, I am beginning to believe I will get through this! I REALLY hate to ask for financial help, especially with Christmas coming, but honestly, I'm desperate!! Any donation, big or small, would be extremely appreciated! Thanks again for reading this.
