Assist Kay in Honoring Ben's Memory

Hi, I'm Kay, Ben's wife. I'm reaching out for help. Ben passed away on the 26th of Aug. In most ways, I wasn't ready to lose him when I thought we would still have years ahead of us. In July, when his health began deteriorating so much, I realized how unprepared I was. I made the calls and put a life insurance policy together to cover funeral costs. Then, at the beginning of Aug., I received a call to upgrade the policy a little and have it effective immediately. So that's what I did. The insurance man did his part. I spoke to the underwriter and was given a policy number. The company even called me to answer all of these health questions. I was assured Ben's final expense policy was good to go.

On the 27th, when I was trying to make funeral arrangements, I was informed the policy number I was given didn't exist....

With the help from the funeral home rep and hours on the phone, we tracked down the policy. It was written in my name as the insured and my husband as the beneficiary.

HOW could this happen?

Not only was my income reduced by Ben's SSD, but I also would be reduced approximately 900 dollars from my VA monthly benefits.

Now somehow, I really need assistance to get things straightened out. My brain is just jumbled. I don't know what to do or where to start.
