My name is Kaunda Hancock. I took a trip to Jamaica on October 20th, not knowing my flight on the 28th would be canceled due to Hurricane Melissa. I thank God that I survived. It was one of the scariest things I have ever seen. My mother’s house stood firm but received roof damage and car damage. I am living in Discovery Bay where Melissa ripped through the parish. The next morning, I met numerous people who lost everything! I am trying to collect as much as I can to help as many people in Jamaica as I can before I fly back. I am here stranded in Jamaica and I need to get back to Florida to my wife and 5 kids. I am also missing work and I do not know how I will be able to take care of my bills at home. But until then, I am committed to helping as many Jamaican people as I can in the meantime.
