Hi my name is Katie.

I was born with a crippling autoimmune disease called Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Side effects of this disease caused Uveitis in both eyes leading to Glaucoma. Doctor visits and surgeries became a way of life for me. But deep down, I knew there had to be more out there than that. In 2017 I came across a tedX talk by Clint Paddison, founder of the Paddison program for rheumatoid arthritis, where he shared his inspirational story of overcoming RA naturally and how he currently helps other RA warriors around the world do the same. With renewed hope for the future I signed up for the Paddison program’s online support forum and began my healing journey.

A few weeks later I took my very first 90 min hot Bikram yoga class at Forge hot Yoga which soon became my passion and part of my daily practice. It was here at my home studio that I was first introduced to Rolfing as well. Rolfing is a technique of deep tissue manipulation aimed at the release and realignment of the body. It reduces the amount of muscular and psychic tension and relieves pain, resolves discomfort, realigns and balances the whole body. After my first few Rolfing sessions at my home studio I was hooked. Less pain, more range of motion in my joints, overall feeling of more space to move in my body…I was in love. I continued with these sessions up until Covid started and was forced to move out of state. Since then I have not had the opportunity for another session.

This year I came in contact with a rolfer, Liz Stewart in Boulder Colorado. Liz has over 30 years of experience as a rolfer and has worked with other patients with RA. Being able to have these sessions with Liz would be life-changing for me. Any amount of donations will go towards the Rolfing sessions during my stay in Boulder and sessions in the future when I come back to visit Boulder.
