Hi everyone,

My name is Leslie Donado, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Kainoa De LaCruz.

This past week, Kainoa said goodbye to his beloved father, Esmael "Sonny" De LaCruz, who passed away peacefully on Thursday at 92 years old. Sonny wasn’t just Kainoa’s father — he was his best friend, his greatest supporter, and the very definition of unconditional love and strength.

Aloha and love to all of you who have been praying — your kindness means everything. We are now moving forward to plan a beautiful celebration of Sonny’s life. He was a wonderful father and friend who supported his family through every season, showing love and the grace of God even when times were tough. He is already deeply missed.

Kainoa cared for Sonny his dad around the clock at home during his final days, making sure he was surrounded by love, dignity, and peace. In doing so, Kainoa had to step away from work completely, pouring his entire heart into being by his father's side.

Now, Sonny will be laid to rest, reunited with his beloved wife — Kainoa’s mother — bringing comfort to those who know they are together again.

At the same time, Kainoa continues to care for a close friend battling cancer who is living with him — all while facing mounting expenses and the recent loss of their only working vehicle.

As Kainoa grieves and begins to rebuild his life without his father, he needs our support more than ever.
