Assist Jordan's Recovery and Jens car cost

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jamie Emerick. I am looking to help raise money for my sister. She is a hardworking single mom of 2. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS POST!

I would like to share this post since my sister has posted it. I have her blocked from this post. I know I can't do much to help her myself, but if anyone would like to help her out with her car expenses, or gas with running Jordan to Morgantown, or even offering meals to help take the stress off her the next couple of weeks till they get settled down, please PM me. Do not reach out to her. I want to help get this all organized and surprise her and hopefully help her out. She is having a hard time right now and any little bit will help. PM me with any questions, etc.

Here, this is shared from her post:

With so much going on, I feel like I'm about to have a mental breakdown...

I just want to start off by saying thank you to those that called, texted, and sent me a private message asking about Jordan. Long story short, he had an accident and a screw went into his eye. It was the scariest and most painful thing to see. I was praying to myself and trying to stay strong for him while I just wanted to cry with him. As a mom, you want to console your kid. All I could do while driving to the hospital was hold his hand and repeatedly tell him it's going to be alright. He handled this better than I would have. We were both so scared he was going to lose his eye or his sight. I'm thankful to the hospital staff at UPMC as they got him back almost immediately and started checking his eye and put him on antibiotics. After seeing the damage, they contacted WVU to get him transported there to see an ophthalmologist. He has a lot of inflammation. The screw punctured his cornea and detached a portion of the pupil and iris (the colored part of your eye), which moved down and was plugging the hole in his cornea (the picture I have attached is one that the doctor took after clearing out the blood). They did surgery and removed the blood and reattached his iris and what they could of his pupil but were unable to make his pupil a normal circle. Due to the damages, he won't be able to fully see out of the bottom part of his eye right now. He has 8 stitches. We were able to come home after his eye surgery with an eye patch. We had to go back yesterday for a checkup and we didn't get the best news. There is more blood in his eye along with a leak around the middle stitch. They numbed his eye and put in a contact lens to help stop the leak, stop the irritation of the stitches, and gave him a new eye drop to help lower the moisture in his eye to hopefully help close the leak faster. Unfortunately, due to insurance issues, we didn't get that prescription yesterday. So hopefully they can get that fixed today. He's on a steroid and 2 different kinds of antibiotics. He needs to sleep with an eye patch. The first week to week and a half, we have to be concerned with getting an infection. That can cause damage to the eye, loss of sight, and cause an infection in his brain. With the concern of the leak and blood, we have to go back on Wednesday for another appointment. He will need the stitches in for a few months. They will be removed little by little in the office. He will have to see a cornea specialist at some point. They said he will end up with an artificial lens and need glasses and a contact to be able to see, which will be about 6 months down the road. If everyone can please continue keeping him in your prayers, we would appreciate that.

I also want to take a minute and thank my neighbors Missy and David for taking care of Bella, my sister and Brandon for picking us up from the hospital, and Adria Clayton for allowing me to use her vehicle for his appointment yesterday. Unfortunately, mine is still broken down.

I was able to get it to Shaffer Ford yesterday evening so they can start repairs. It makes me sick just thinking about the cost of this on top of everything else. I'm praying my rack and pinion is the only thing wrong with it.

UPDATE

Update on Jordan:

Today was a day full of nerves for my boy. He was so scared about the news we'd get. The closer we got, the more anxious he became. I felt the same way but done my best to hide it, like we always do as parents. He was given numbing eye drops to remove the contact lens. We thought he'd do it with his fingers. Nope, he decided to use long metal sterile tweezers. I couldn't even watch it. Jordan was a little freaked out, but he handled it like a champ. He still has blood in his eye. The doctor said that is expected with the damage. We received some good news, the leak in his eye is closed! He already has a cataract forming in his eye, and we expected that just not so quickly. We were told today that until the pupil is repaired that he will have light sensitivity to his eye as well. I'm just not sure how bad it's going to be. He's not able to keep his eye open. I have to pull up on his eyelid to open his eye for his drops. He was told to not force anything and to make sure he's comfortable. His eye needs to be rested. In the mornings, it looks like pink eye with all the mucus. We were told that was normal. He was going to check the pressure but decided to hold off until we go back next week. The doctor put in a new contact lens to help protect the eye and cover the stitches. They are so painful. It feels like he's being stabbed in the eye when the contact lens is removed. Of course, we have to continue his antibiotics and steroids and cover his eye with the patch at bedtime. He's lucky the iris and pupil plugged the hole in his cornea, or it could've been worse. It kept the fluid from coming out of his eye, which could've caused him to lose his eye. Our appt next week is not scheduled yet, should be Wednesday. They have to fit us into the schedule so they had to consult the doctor first.

While over there, Shaffer Ford told me my car was being worked on. Found out that they have the wrong part for my steering to my car, so now I have to wait until Tuesday for it to come in. Of course, it's going to be a couple of $100 dollars more is all they'd say. I also found out the mobile mechanic I had put the outer tie rod ends on my vehicle didn't put the grease fittings on like he was supposed to, so now I need those. (I contacted him about it, and he said they weren't the right size. It was his fault. After the first one didn't fit, he just kept going through the motions and forgot to mention it. He could see about getting the right size and put them on for me... like wth) Also, I either need a new rear caliber and/or rotor or maybe something else. They haven't checked the rear yet. All I know is something smells like it's burning or locked up. So now I'm over $2,000 for all of this. It makes me want to throw up and cry.
