My name is Joanna Gonzalez and my fiancé Trevor Metlenko, attended Motorcycle Mechanic Institute Harley Davidson program from 2021-2022. After graduating from the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute in Arizona in 2022, we moved back to Nevada and eventually found work in Tennessee. Promised $8000 each for relocation, we never received the funds.
In the mobile motorcycle mechanic shop where we worked for about a year, we operated out of a modified freightliner that used to be a snap-on truck. The setup included a liftgate, a motorcycle lift, a tire-changing machine, and several toolboxes. On one fateful day, as we were returning to base, we encountered a devastating accident at a four-way stop. Despite cautiously proceeding through the intersection at around 5mph, a reckless 22-year-old driver, with no insurance or registration, careened into us at high speed, exceeding the 25mph limit. The impact was so forceful that it nearly tipped our freightliner over.
Tragically, a car accident involving a reckless driver led to the closure of the business where I worked. The accident left me with a severe back injury, impacting my ability to walk. My fiancé and I, both promised jobs working around motorcycles and ATVs, faced challenges with finding suitable housing and ended up in a mold-infested place after living in a motel for weeks. The financial strain from the move and the lack of relocation support have left us struggling to make ends meet.
The aftermath of the accident and the unfulfilled promise of relocation funds have left us struggling to keep up with our bills, particularly concerning our motorcycles, which are our primary mode of transportation. Each motorcycle represents a significant financial investment, and falling behind on payments puts our livelihoods at risk. These vehicles are essential for us to fulfill our job responsibilities, and without them, we face significant challenges in maintaining our employment.
The presence of black mold in our living environment, resulting in the loss of our belongings without the means to fully replace them, has been a significant hardship. However, the greatest concern for both of us is the risk of losing our own vehicles, which are crucial for maintaining our jobs and livelihoods. Any assistance to help us stabilize our financial situation and protect our means of transportation would be greatly appreciated. We are seeking assistance with the total amount of $30,000 to cover the costs associated with the motorcycles and the damaged property.
