UPDATE: It is with a very heavy and sad heart that I have to share that Jason passed away this morning (August 8th) at 4:10 a.m.
Please send Julie, Michael and Jayden all the love, support and prayers. Please, please donate and share this go fund me link everywhere you can. We don't want this to be a financial burden on top of the emotional roller-coaster they are navigating.
As many of you know, while in Texas, Jason went into cardiac arrest and has been in the ICU on a ventilator ever since. As of Friday afternoon, doctors removed his sedation, but heartbreakingly, he has not regained consciousness.
There have been some small signs of response—he moves slightly when they rub on his sternum, and his pupils dilate a little when light is shined in them, though not as much as they should. He’s also able to breathe on his own briefly when the ventilator is turned down, but not for long. Sadly, despite some reflex tests, there has been little to no neurological response, even after three days off sedation.
The MRI results have confirmed what we feared most: Jason has suffered severe brain damage.
With deep sorrow, we share that he is not going to recover. Tomorrow, the doctors will begin the process of removing him from life support.
Please keep Julie, Michael, and Jayden in your thoughts and prayers during this devastating time. Jason was a devoted husband and father, and his loss is unimaginable.
We are asking for your help—both in spirit and in support. We need to bring Jason home and assist Julie with final arrangements, as well as ongoing care for the boys. Jason was self-employed, so there will be no life insurance or social security benefits to help the family through this.
If you're able, please donate [insert GoFundMe link]—every little bit helps and is deeply appreciated. And please, share this far and wide so we can gather as much support as possible.
Thank you for your love, compassion, and generosity
