Assist James Picarro's Family with Funeral Costs

As many close to us know, my father James Picarro has been in the hospital on the ICU floor in critical condition since Friday 10/18/24. He was diagnosed with Heart Failure, Vascular Lung Disease, Fluid filling his lungs, bruised and scarred lungs and many more life threatening diagnoses. He was placed on a ventilator Saturday morning and was medically sedated. He came off the ventilator and sedation 10/23/24 and was incubated because he cannot breathe on his own.

Unfortunately, we got the news from his doctor yesterday, that he only has a few months to live. He had a feeding tube placed yesterday as well, 10/25/24 through his nose into his stomach due to him not being able to eat or drink by mouth any longer. Every time he does so, the liquid goes straight to his lungs.

Due to myself (19) and my little sister, Carrie Picarro (16) being so young and with myself just having a baby 1 year ago, we aren’t able to pull the funds together for his remaining bills for the months he has left, as well as funeral expenses/ arrangements were starting to make. My sister and myself are also his only living relatives. Anything you can contribute or just a share would help tremendously during this time of grief and hardship. Thank you for your time! ❤️

UPDATE AS OF 10/28/24: We met with his palliative team this morning and officially have come up with a plan. We have ultimately agreed around the board that dad is switched to comfort care on hospice to live out his last few days comfortably and happy. No machines, no feeding tubes, and no resuscitation. He is going to live in Dansville hospital in a private room for any and all family to visit until he has passed. They’re managing his pain and comfort but not trying to cure anything any longer. The team has come to the conclusion that dad would have to have a traque placed and pass miserably. His comfort and happiness matters to all of us most. This decision makes his life expectancy VERY short, but he is happy and comfortable. We are starting to plan his funeral and service as we speak, with him present for everything to tell us what he’s wanting done after. UPDATE 10/29/24: Dad is now flying with the angels as of tonight. Thank you for all of your support during this. He was with myself (his oldest daughter) holding my hand when he took his last breath sleeping. Service and funeral updates will be posted for any family or friends that would like to attend.
