As you know, Greg and I worked hard together to build our retirement. Eight years ago, we finally retired to Mexico. This was Greg’s dream. Unfortunately, he only had a year and a half of good retirement and then found out that he needed his aortic valve replaced and that was the start of the downhill slide. We did take him to the United States, but then back home to Baja California Sur which is where he wanted to be. 2 1/2 years ago, Greg had a bad fall, a concussion, and seizure and after that a series of strokes. We knew if we stayed in the United States our money would be gone in short order. Medicare does not pay for quality nurses, around the clock care, nor does it pay for long-term facilities. Once we knew that Greg would never get better, his only request was to come back here to Baja Sur. This is where he wants to die.
I have been blessed with five nurses that have been with us for 2 1/2 years 24 hours a day. They take care of us both and are now family.
Greg is now in his final weeks. We have exhausted all of our funds. I am looking for help to pay for his last bit of care and cremation costs. I am fairly embarrassed to ask this of friends and family, but at this point, asking is all I can do. The cost of cremation and the paperwork will be between 7,000 and 10,000 US. The cost for caring for him in his last few weeks is About $7000 a month US.
We understand times are tough, and appreciate any support you can spare.
