Assist in Beano's Journey to Recovery

My name is Brooke, and I am creating this for my dog, Beano. Beano is a nearly 2-year-old pitbull mix and is so full of love. Initially, he was my foster dog. Beano came into my life via social media when I found his original owner had been extremely negligent to him. I knew taking him on would be a challenge; however, I never anticipated our current obstacle.

After having a severely infected eye that had glaucoma removed, I thought my sweet Jellybean would be okay. Beano is now in need of an MRI, which is estimated to cost about $4,000. Though he has no official diagnosis, he will most likely need to have surgery to fix the condition. As of Friday, October 18th, 2024, Beano lost his ability to walk independently. I love this dog so much. He’s had a very difficult life, and I just want to make him finally okay.

When I found him, he had been kept in a cage on a 2nd story balcony. This is where he spent most of his days, hardly being taken care of. When I first met him, I noticed he had a slight hunch in his back, but after consulting with vets, many said if he didn’t appear to be in pain from it, then it should be okay. Sadly, he suddenly lost his ability to walk with no real signs. He is an amazing boy, and despite all his ailments, until now, he radiated light and love. He had so much energy, joy, and affection to share with every person and dog he met. Now, he is too weak to do so, and it is breaking me to see him this way. I can see that he is still in there and wanting to fight for himself, his legs just won’t allow him to. I believe in his ability to recovery, as he has still be eating and drinking like normal and even wags his tail lightly when he sees me. He has not given up, so please help me give again to give him a chance at a life that is finally stress free for him.

UPDATE 11/24/24

Beano is now in recovery and thought not expected to have his movement abilities and eyesight be perfect, he has now gained back some vision and can walk independently again. I am so grateful to share this part of his journey. We still are unsure exactly what Bean had to of caused this, though all his prescriptions are helping him immensely and he is expected to need them for many months or possibly the rest of his life. Due to him responding so well to his meds, an MRI is no longer necessary . Beano is not truly out of the woods according to his doctor and still must have check-ins with her once a month as well as having his prescriptions filled once a month. Everyone is astounded with how well he is doing and I will do all we can to ensure he continues on this path. I am so happy I didn’t give up on him, I always knew he was still in there.
