Help Us Honor the Life of James Edward Harris Jr.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved James Edward Harris Jr., who departed this life on April 19, 2025. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cherished uncle, and great-uncle. He was deeply respected by all who knew him, remembered for his unwavering faith, humility, and quiet strength.
A faithful deacon and longtime member of First Baptist Pewee Valley Church, James lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and commitment to God and his community. He was also one of the finest stone masons in the country—his work stands as a lasting legacy of skill, dedication, and artistry. In honor of his many contributions, he was named a Kentucky Colonel by the City of Anchorage, Kentucky.
James was a humble yet proud man. When his beloved wife, Rosella Harris, became ill, he cared for her with deep love and devotion until her final days. Even as he later became ill himself, he continued to manage his responsibilities and cover his own expenses, quietly using much of his savings—a testament to his strength and independence.
He leaves behind his daughter, Connie Harris, and his son, James Edward Harris III, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family who were blessed to know and love him.
As we come together to honor James’s life and legacy, we are asking for your support to help us cover the cost of his funeral and burial. Any contribution—no matter the size—will help us give him the dignified farewell he deserves.
