Asalamu Alikum. My name is Charlene, but I go by Hajar, and I have been on dialysis since 2012. I am a single mother of 5 children. They are mostly 20 years and up now, and my youngest is 17 years old. I still assist my children financially when I'm able. It's hard out here. I don't work at this time, and it's not for the lack of trying. I went to college to become a library technician, and I applied to so many jobs and still can't get a job.
I just had a kidney transplant on June 16, 2025. All praises due to Allah (God). I received my transplant from UC San Diego Transplant Center, and I live in Irvine, CA. I have to reside in San Diego for a month. I have back-to-back follow-up appointments and close monitoring by the transplant center. My sister has taken off work to take care of me. She has bills to pay. May Allah guide her soul, Ameen. I can't drive for about 8 weeks, can't cook, clean, or do much of anything for myself at this time of recovery. I have extra expenses. I have to provide food for my Irvine home for my 17-year-old and 20-year-old and for me and my sister in San Diego. I'm on a special diet. I can't pay my regular bills at this time because of the money I'm spending. I'm really struggling financially during this recovery. I am so grateful to Allah (God) to have this kidney transplant. God willing, this is a new door to a new life. I don't have to consider jobs that only work around my dialysis. I pray to The Most Great, The Most Merciful Allah to allow me success with the transplant. Allahumma Ameen.
May Allah (God), the Provider and Sustainer, put it in the hearts of my fellow human beings to assist me in my time of need. Ameen.
Jazakallahu khair or Kharin
And thank you
