Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I've been hesitant to share my son's story, but today, I begin a series that reveals the day our lives changed forever. As a mother, my worst nightmare became a reality the day my son was shot.
I am reaching out on behalf of my son who survived a traumatic gunshot wound. The bullet entered through his shoulder and traveled (nicking his spine), ultimately leaving him a C3 incomplete quadriplegic.
My son spent a total of 86 days in the hospital. Out of those 86 days, 42 were spent between Surgical and Cardiovascular ICU, and the remaining 44 days in inpatient rehab.
During those ICU days, he coded three times. Each time, God brought him back. He was placed on an ECMO machine, a life support system that took over the function of his lungs. He was also connected to a ventilator, underwent dialysis, and had a tracheostomy placed. It was a fight for survival, and he never gave up.
Today, my son is home, off the ventilator, and working hard every day to regain movement and independence. He requires twenty-four-hour care, specialized support, and consistent therapy to maintain his progress.
One of our biggest challenges right now is transportation. Due to hiss height and the size of his power wheelchair, it has been difficult getting around by utilizing the transportation services that his insurance provides. We need a reliable, accessible vehicle with enough headroom, ramp clearance, and comfort to safely get him to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and community outings. It is time to restore dignity and stability to his care.
As his mom, I have been navigating every aspect of his recovery, coordinating care, advocating for services, and fighting for solutions that honor his life and potential.
We are fundraising to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van and support his ongoing recovery. Every dollar will go directly toward:
• A spacious side or rear entry van with proper conversion
• Physical and occupational therapy
• Respite care and caregiver support
His story is one of resilience, love, determination, and divine grace.
Your support means everything to us. Whether you donate, share, or simply send a prayer, you are part of his healing journey.
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude,
A.D. Griffin
