My name is Fred Eder. My mother, Mary Jane Eder, died on August 18, 2025. Her husband, my father, died 16 years ago.

Mom kept Dad's ashes for the remainder of her life.

Mom and Dad asked us to spread their ashes together in San Francisco Bay. At the time, I was gainfully employed. I would never have needed a GoFundMe for this. That time is long in the past. I'm on Disability now. I'm as diabetic as one can be and still be alive.

I need to get their ashes to San Francisco Bay. I'm going to do that by any means necessary. I prefer to do everything properly.

The law requires I take the urns out to Sea... at least 3 miles from shore. I found someone who can do that for me. It will cost $700. You tip the crew $25 if they're good. I'm assuming they will be.

I have to get a Real ID. This requires getting an official birth certificate from Nebraska. I have included those expenses in my budget.

I have a dog who means everything to me. I have to have an expert take care of him. That will cost me $500. I can't let the house look terrible. I'm paying to have it taken care of because I'm not strong enough to do it myself.

I have to eat. In San Francisco that's incredibly expensive.

I have to have my bring my best friend. I won't be able to get around more than, perhaps, the airport alone. I can barely walk across the house anymore. Walking in San Francisco is just NOT going to happen.

I would also like to take The Vertigo Tour. Mom and Dad and I did that some 30 years ago, but we could do it on our own. Dad and I know all the locations down to the street corners. I'm still working on how much that will cost. I can't have my best friend pushing me up and down the streets of San Francisco in a wheelchair. It just won't work.
