My sole focus recently was my two new part-time jobs I had to take on when my business was closed by the state temporarily because of Covid-19; but I was held back by increasing and constant pain in my abdomen. Suddenly I found myself in a life-or-death situation as I was rushed to the hospital and was told I had extremely large cysts on both ovaries that required immediate removal in addition to the removal of my omentum and appendix due to the risk of spreading. The doctors were extremely concerned I might have cancer because my CA-125 marker was at 1420, and individuals are in danger when their levels reach above 300."
Meli, a Filipina woman without insurance, was handed a hospital and surgery bill of $48,031.72 and the potential for future surgeries and/or a hysterectomy.
This fundraiser is being organized by Meli's two close and trusted friends, and all funds will go to pay off the massive hospital bill and loss of income due to extended recovery and need for continued isolation during coronavirus after major abdominal surgery.
