Assist Donna Bogan in Her Healing Journey

I am Donna Bogan, 71 years old, residing in Texas. Beginning in 2022, I suffered a series of hospital visits due to illnesses, injuries, and deterioration of genetic conditions. Having retired from full-time in 2000, from music-teaching, I have continued part-time music teaching and performing as I was able to until February, 2022.

At that point, I found myself at a Kammermusik Conference in Santa Fe, N.M. Severely ill with respiratory illness and mobility problems, I was taken to a Santa Fe Hospital for 6 days’ treatment post-conference before being released to go home.

As I continued to heal, I worked back into my teaching and performing schedules. I paid a portion of the hospital balance but did not clear the balance.

I continued to recuperate through December, 2022, preparing to play a Christmas program as oboist with a church and choir in town. On a December night, I went to first rehearsal. Sadly, as I walked into church, I tripped on both feet and fell down the security stairwell, landing directly on my right hip, which broke upon contact.

I was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where I had surgery to repair my right hip. After a few days in that hospital #1, I was moved to a rehab center. For the next 50 days, I had no income, missed all private lessons, and all performances.

At the end of December, I caught two viral infections so strong that I was taken to an emergency room where I was intubated. From there, I was moved to hospital #2, where physical therapy for my knee began and where breathing therapy continued. These therapies continued into February until I was deemed well enough to return home on my own care.

As a result of calendar timing, I had no students, lessons, or paying jobs waiting for me upon hospital release, and I lost my church office job because I wasn’t recuperated soon enough to step back into that job. So, all of these various medical bills are unpaid, and I have only a payment for my part-time keyboard time which I resumed in May of 2024.

So I applied for a Gofundme to help with expenses until I can find new lesson students and other part-time work to support myself, health-allowing. I seek help paying what medical bills my TRS insurance does not cover. My estimate is $5000, to supplement my apartment rent and living expenses for a few months into the future and then to cover insurance bills past due now from hospitals #1 and #2 plus the rehab. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
