Assist Dislocated Forks, WA Family

You may be aware there was massive flooding this week on the remote Olympic Peninsula area of Forks. Graham’s employee, Jim McGillivray, who is part of our QTS project in La Push was airlifted by the US Coast Guard out of his rented mobile home. In the melee of rising waters, Jim heard the cries of help from a nearby neighbor. A mother of 4 and her family (Ages 12, 5, 3, and 1) like Jim were stuck in their rented mobile home a few hundred yards away. Swift moving waters prevented either from getting to each other. Jim communicated with another Graham QTS superintendent, Steve Dover, who was acting liaison with those stranded in their homes and the First Responders.

 

Under dire conditions of little daylight, frightened children, flood water trapping them in their home, she and her sister cut a hole in the roof so the Coast Guard could pull them out!

 

As you expect they were able to leave only with the clothes on their backs. Their only car is under 4 feet of water. On top of this tragedy, the mother, Ashley, lost her husband and the father of the 4 wonderful children a year ago in an accident.

 

Steve and Jim, great ambassadors for Graham, got the family in a short-term stable situation with a hotel room, some food, and driving around town.

 

Yet, Ashley, her sister, and her family need further help to rebuild their home life.

 

We are asking for your support here with whatever you can share to help them have a good Thanksgiving meal, some extra spending money to replace the valuable items lost in the flood, and get into a new rental home. No gift from the heart is too small and would be appreciated.
