This is my mom, Deb Kuchler. She passed away on February 12, 2025, after battling Stage IV cancer for a year and a half. She was a trouper, but the battle was prolonged and difficult...and, unfortunately, the cancer won.
My mother cultivated some close friendships during each of the different chapters in her life, and there were even a few that lasted most of her life. For this, I am certain she was thankful. From her early days in southern Wisconsin to her athletic trainer days in Milwaukee to her cattery life in both Milwaukee and Fort Myers, she always had a supportive crew around her.
Deb was good at many things. She took care of many animals that showed up at her doorstep. She took care of her adult son when he became unable to fully care for himself. She took care of the household so that her husband, Yard Dog Charlie, could devote more time to his musical career. And she was good at surviving hurricanes, as she weathered three of them!
Unfortunately, she wasn't so great at taking care of herself. She didn't have health insurance until Medicare started. She didn't have secondary insurance until after she realized she was sick. And she didn't have anything in place for after her passing.
If you knew my mother and were considering ways you could help her family once you heard of her passing, I ask that you consider donating here instead of sending flowers. Between medical bills and final expenses, Chuck is looking at some pretty large expenditures right now. Any little bit would help.
Thank you.
