The Carson family started when Thom and Caryn met in college (Go Cats) and were just a small family of three when I got to reconnect with Caryn and work with Thom in Kansas City.
After moving to Nebraska they added on to their family, partially through the adoption of multiple children with complex medical needs.
Recently their 20 year old daughter Cate had a very steep, unexpected medical decline. Within the time it took to diagnose her, she permanently lost her ability to walk, as well as most of her trunk strength and verbal communication.
Although prepared for long-term care as a family, accommodating her new disabilities are far beyond their financial capabilities. Insurance is covering some things like her hospital bed and power wheelchair and the family also received a small grant that will help. But these things together only cover a small portion of the cost that it will take to put in wheelchair and stair lifts due to the configuration of their home. Their home will also need several other modifications to make it more accessible to Cate. It's a little overwhelming.
Cate will have a power wheelchair so they will also need a wheelchair van as they can't transport her in either of their existing vehicles.
Cate will be going home requiring 24/7 life long care and if we, as a community, can help just a little with their financial stress it would be very much appreciated.
Please consider donating to our friends the Carsons a.k.a. "Team Carson" if you can and if you can't please add them to your prayers.
I know they don't like asking for help but I really wanted to set this GoFundMe for this amazing family. I am always cheering for Team Carson.
