Assist Carrion Through This Housing Crisis

Greetings, my name is Carrion.

You may know me for my pixel art! I love drawing giant robots, overgrown worlds, and the cute critters that inhabit those worlds.

The situation:

I am currently past due on rent and my landlord is threatening to change the locks rather than go through a standard eviction process.

While this is illegal on their part, there's nothing I can do that can immediately remedy my situation. I tried to diffuse, negotiate, and reason with my landlord, but they opted to simply reply saying, "I don't care about the law," and even went as far as threatening physical violence if I don't vacate the space. The situation started as an easily solvable problem in which I was short $300 dollars for rent, but due to how it has been escalated I now need enough money to move into an entirely new space. There are no resources or institutions that help with this sort of thing outside of small claims court, which is a lengthy and costly process that frankly is not going to help with my current circumstances.

The goal of this GoFundMe is to raise enough money to find a new place to live and tide me over until I can secure a stable source of income.

While I have been able to somewhat make a living through commissions, contract work, and various art jobs, the process of doing so has worn me very thin. I have recently been in a transitional phase between switching from full-time freelance work to a regular nine-to-five job. The issue is that the job market in California is very unstable right now, and it has taken me much longer to find a job than I thought it would. Once I have a normal job and no longer have to focus on freelance work, I will be able to produce art more freely in my spare time and will hopefully never encounter a situation like this ever again.

I would usually solve my current situation by taking on art commissions or looking for a gamedev project to work on, but that market is just as unstable as the normal job market. I had freelance work lined up for the month of July, and it only took one client dropping out to put me in the situation I'm in right now.
