Assist Arizona: Stroke Rehab Fundraiser
Donation protected
My name is Arizona Welsh. I am a DeafBlind woman. On October 4-6, I suffered a massive stroke I was hospitalized for six weeks, then sent to a skilled nursing rehab facility. I have been here for over 30 days. My insurance only covers 30 days’ worth for a stay at a skilled nursing facility. Currently, I am not physically ready to go home due to the insufficient physical therapy I was promised prior to coming here. I can barely stand, but cannot walk or function, and they are pushing me out the door.
My insurance will not start again until January 1st, 2025. So I would be paying out of pocket for the time being, and it’s really expensive. I would really appreciate your assistance, because I’m working really hard to get physically capable of being at home.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
Update 3/18/2025:
I had private home care for a month since I left the skilled nursing facility in late December 2024. I finally got re-admitted to Sheltering Arms in early February and in the three weeks I was there, I improved so much that I was considered ready to go home to continue my recovery with in-home therapy.
I still have a ways to go and hopefully soon I will be able to walk anywhere with my cane and have more use of my right arm.
My medical bills still continue to come in, and nearly all the funds donated thus far have been used to pay the ones that have come so far.
Thank you again for your kindness and generosity!
