HELP MIKE REBUILD AFTER CANCER, LOSS & HARDSHIP.
Mike, a 75 Year-old Army veteran and former funeral director, is reaching out in a time of deep personal and financial crisis. Having served his country from 1968 to 1977 and supported others through their most difficult moments as a funeral director from 2012 to 2018, Mike is now in urgent need of support as he tries to rebuild his life following a series of devastating setbacks.
Over the past few years, Mike has fought and survived rectal cancer, endured multiple term residence where he was also a carer to his former partner.
After leaving in 2023 with just two weeks' notice, Mike was left without most of his belongings, having previously disposed of his household items when he moved in years prior.
Mike now shares a home in Ellenbrook, Perth with a couple, where he pays $300 per week in rent and an additional $100 per week for food. On a $1,200 fortnightly pension, this leaves him with just $400 to manage all other expenses, including medical bills, car registration, insurance, and personal care items.
He has no family to rely on and is facing this burden entirely alone.
To make matters worse, Mike’s only vehicle was recently written off in an accident, leaving him without reliable transport. He also continues to receive monthly treatment for a small neuroendocrine tumor, requiring injection at Icon Cancer Centre, an essential but ongoing cost.
He is seeking accommodation with Juniper Care, which would significantly lower his living expenses, but he cannot afford the $185 application fee or the costs of relocation and furnishing a new space.
Mike is seeking to raise $15,000 to:
Pay off credit card and medical debts
Cover utility bills and monthly medical treatments
Afford the application fee for assisted housing
Purchase essential household items like a bed, fridge, and lounge
Address transport-related needs and daily essentials (e.g., personal hygiene products)
Despite everything, Mike remains hopeful. He has been attending mental health support sessions
through Veteran Affairs' Open Arms and continues to take steps toward a healthier, more secure life.
He is active, determined, and deeply grateful for any assistance that will help him regain his
confidence and dignity.
Mike's campaign is not a scam, it is a genuine, transparent appeal from a man who has given much in
service and care, and now humbly asks for help in return. Every dollar, every share, and every act of
kindness is a step toward restoring peace and stability to his life.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign with others. Let’s help Mike close this difficult chapter and move forward with strength, security, and hope.
Mike
