Hey, I’m Alex. I’m a Black Portland native and today I’m asking for your help in raising money to get me back on the road. 

In 2023, I was t-boned by another car which resulted in my car being totaled. The accident left me with ongoing hip problems that have drastically limited my mobility on most days.  

Im still pursuing my dream to be a full-time recording artist. I’m currently working two jobs in addition to taking music gigs, dogsitting, etc. I’m no stranger to working hard but it’s been quite a struggle managing my mobility limitations and safely getting to music gigs as well as my other jobs on public transit.

Getting back into a car means less physical pain and improved quality of life & job opportunities. I’d save money on Ubers coming home (since I work late nights and the buses stop running), I could apply for jobs that pay better but are further away. Most chores/trips would become 10x less painful & anxiety inducing once I’m back in a car by allowing me to do the little things like grocery shopping without worrying if I’ll have time or enough mobility to get things done. 

Of course, I’ll survive without a car, but I often feel like I’m drowning in life without it. My goal is $3,500, but I’ll be aiming for a pretty cheap car (around $2,500-$3,000). So everything helps and anything donated above my goal will go to setting up insurance and any other new car fees.
