Hola todos! My name is Adel and I’m a Junior at the University of Houston. I’m studying Finance with a specialization in Personal Financial Planning and a minor in Spanish for Global Professions.
I’m a first generation college student and studying abroad has always been a dream of mine. Now that the opportunity has risen and is aligned with my current professional goals, I hope to make the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m planning to study abroad in Spain for 8-weeks this upcoming summer!
I will be spending 4 weeks in Seville and 4 weeks in Barcelona. I plan to take 2 courses: International Business and Food & Culture in Spain (which will be taught in Spanish). The Food & Culture course will help immerse me in the Spanish language, and prepare me for the Spanish minor courses I will take this Fall. The international business credit will expedite my path towards graduation, leaving me with 3 semesters of undergraduate study.
As a full-time student and part-time employee off-campus, I need some financial support in meeting this goal. I have applied to various learning abroad scholarships and grants which are currently in review. The reason why I’m creating this Gofundme is due to my financial worry and the uncertainty that I might not receive scholarship funding in time or at all.
The donations received would be allocated towards the remainder of my program fee, transportation abroad, and food. My departure date is approaching on May 20th.
