Hi, my name is Lauren Rusignola, and I’m fundraising on behalf of my dear friend and co-worker, Adam Mathews. Adam is a beloved part of the Asheville & Sovereign community and works with me at the Douglas Ellington House as an event manager. He brings joy to couples on the happiest day of their lives. Adam had just started his new role as a wedding co-planner, with his first wedding planning scheduled for August 9th.

Tragically, Adam fell from a retaining wall at his home and sustained serious injuries, fracturing his skull and neck. He is currently at Mission Hospital and, while incredibly lucky to be alive, faces a 6–12 month recovery from a traumatic brain injury. His work is physically demanding, and it will be a long road before he can safely return.

Adam has no health insurance and was just beginning to regain stability after being laid off from his previous job due to Hurricane Helene. I am raising funds to cover 8 months of essential living expenses for Adam: rent, groceries, utilities, gas, and phone/internet. This will give him the space to heal without the fear of falling behind financially.

His mother Lori, who recently moved to Asheville from Nebraska for a new job at GE Aerospace, and his brother will be helping with his care.
