Please help aide (and her cats), scammed out of rent money

A former health aide of mine was elaborately scammed out of $3,900 (more than her next two months of rent). She has been crying nonstop for the past five days. She told me that she wished crying was like using a soap dispenser at restaurants, where after a while there's just no more liquid to come out and the crying could just stop.

I'm trying to do two things with this GoFundMe page: raise the money back for her and also show her that there are still many good people out there, those who are willing to help.

To help pay her rent and bills, she decided to sell three valuable possessions.

It was an elaborate scheme, but the short version is that her bank told her that money orders are generally reliable. The "buyer" actually met her at her bank where he deposited the money orders into her account. So she gave him the items. But before the funds cleared, the bank determined that the money orders were fraudulent.

When she explained to the bank and others, instead of understanding they looked down at her, and made her feel stupid. This made her feel even worse. (This is why I'm not using her name.)

She does not have family to help her. I helped her cover her immediate bills, but she is still out over two months rent.

Any amount would be greatly appreciated, and with enough acts of kindness, will go a long way to not only providing a little security for her and her cats so that she can relax for just a little while, but also to restoring a good person's faith in others.
